Doh – BMW 5-Series Recall
That’s right, you thought Toyota was the only car company that had problems? Think again! BMW has recalled more than 8,000 cars according to the Wall Street Journal all to fix a fuel level sensor. This is so far from unintentional acceleration that I don’t think anyone will lose faith in BMW. That being said this issue could have turned-into something pretty bad as the indicator would still show you have gas in the tank when you’re completely empty!
In response BMW said that despite all of the advancements their cars have made over the years the fuel gauge is still a mechanical part. We all know that hardware can have defects, it’s happened for years and it will continue to happen.
So far there have been no major customer complaints about the issue and no accidents that have been claimed to be caused by the faulty fuel gauge – duh! The recall is completely voluntary so if you have a new 5-Series don’t panic – your car still rocks!
